CTO AI Corner: Your industry is not special – how AI is transforming every field

The conversations around me seem to be full of confident explanations about why AI will not disrupt "this one industry." Apparently, every industry believes it is the exception. Let’s look at some of the arguments.

"Our industry is very human-oriented and requires communication."
Sure. Humans will probably keep talking to each other. But what about everything that happens after those conversations? Notes, summaries, follow-ups, analysis, coordination. A surprising amount of "human work" is just structured repetition.

"AI cannot handle this one specific thing."
True. AI cannot do everything. But if it can handle 50 percent, that is not a limitation. That is a headcount discussion waiting to happen.

"We have legal obstacles."
Also true, in many cases. But "AI cannot make final decisions" quickly becomes "AI prepares everything needed for the final decision." And suddenly most of the work is still being done. Also, where cloud models are restricted, local models tend to quietly show up.

"Our customers value the human touch."
Do they value it, or are they used to it? If the outcome is similar and the price is half, loyalty starts to look more like a line item.

"Our work is too complex."
Complex work is usually just a collection of simpler tasks wearing a trench coat. AI does not need to solve everything at once. It just needs to chip away at enough pieces to matter.

"Our customers do not trust AI."
Trust is not a prerequisite. It is a gradual side effect. People did not trust autopilot, spellcheck, or GPS at first either.

So yes, your industry might be different. But also similar in many aspects to others.
