I will continue my series of posts on how AI is changing roles in software development. This time, I want to propose a new role: AI tool engineer. Let me elaborate.

Over the past few years, I have had a front row seat watching how AI has already reshaped the developer role. And the change is clearly not done yet. More and more code is written by AI, and developers are shifting from writing code to guiding AI. We tell the AI what to do, review the output, adjust the instructions, and repeat until it works. This alone has already changed the job significantly.

Updating systems is an unavoidable expense, but also an opportunity to improve efficiency and strengthen competitiveness. The key question is whether to replace the system with a new one or to modernize the old one. Building a new system is often expensive and slow, and modernization hasn't been much simpler before. Artificial intelligence is changing this: it can make modernization faster, more accurate and more cost-effective. In this blog, we will discuss the role of AI in software modernization.
